Choices For Renting A BVI Catamaran Charter

The British Virgin Islands is among the most beautiful destinations in the world. You could simply fly in and enjoy the crystal blue waters from the beach. But to really experience the surrounding ocean, you should do it from a vessel. Luckily, there are many BVI catamaran charter companies available to help you accomplish this.

You may have been on a sailboat or even a yacht before, but those are not the same as a catamaran. This is a special kind of boat that has two hulls that are connected in the middle by some kind of material or structure. For smaller vessels, the material could be super strong webbing that is comfortable to sit on. For larger ones, the bridge between the hulls may be large enough for multiple passengers.

You obviously do not want to vacation on a cargo catamaran, but the smaller ones are perfect for a family or romantic vacation for two, depending on the size. The fact that they are smaller than yachts or cruise ships is good, because they can then go just about anywhere around the more than 60 islands and cays that make up the BVI. You can leave no stone left unturned in approaching these islands, some of which are in pristine condition still.

Because of the hulls, the boat is lower to the water, which means you can lean over the hull and take a look at the water, which is beautiful and clear. In shallower waters, you can see down to the sand at the coral or seaweed. Being lower to the ground allows you to easily use the ladder or cockpit extension to get into the water for a relaxing swim or some snorkeling. Your return to the boat is also easier this way.

Some charter services will take you out just for a day or for a sunset type cruise. Others will rent to you for a week or more, for people who really want ot relax out on the open water for days at a time. Some companies will offer a discount if you book in advance for more than a week. If you book during off peak times, you may also be able to get a deal, so do not hesitate to ask if there is a lower price.

When you make your reservation, you can decide to be truly pampered and reserve a crew of a captain to do the sailing and navigating, and a hostess to attend to all your other needs.

If you would prefer to have some privacy while on board and like to do things yourself, then ask for what is called a bareboat sailing. This means you do not have a crew on board, so you are on your own to take care of everything.

Most have at least a seating area with a table and padded seats that can accommodate many. Others have a large section below deck with one or more cabins and bathrooms. Each cabin can sleep at least two, while some can sleep up to four. The bathrooms have showers, sinks and toilets along with clean, running water.
