When an airplane takes off or lands, pressure changes in the cabin can cause your ears to feel uncomfortable and stuffy - and may lead to a painful pop when the pressure finally normalizes. To avoid this, chew gum during these pressure changes. Jaw motion as you chew prevents pressure from building in the ear canal and you will be more comfortable.

Sign up for a travel price watcher. This feature offered by many websites lets you enter in destinations you travel to frequently and it watches them for you. When the airfare or hotel price drops by an amount you choose, the site will send you an email alerting you to the change. This will save you the hassle of checking on the price daily.

If you are traveling with a baby, hide your valuables in the diaper bag. Most thieves will not think to steal your diaper bag first. If a thief does try to pick pocket your diaper bag, there are many pockets and so, your valuables can remain hidden.

Whenever you travel it is of utmost importance that you use luggage tags. Luggage tags are easy to find in most stores and are very cheap. The reason you need to use them is so that you will be able to locate your luggage quickly and won't accidentally have a mix up with someone else's bags that are the same as yours!

One concern with traveling is being stuck without personal items if your luggage is lost. There are a few simple steps that can be taken to ease the impact of lost luggage. In your carry-on pack important medications, paperwork and a change of clothes or two. That way if the luggage is delayed you will still have all your proper medications as well as clean clothes. If you are travelling with another person, split clothing for the two people between the suitcases. That way if one suitcase is lost, clothing for both people will still arrive in the other suitcase.

If you're flying in the US, you probably already know that you can't bring a full water bottle through airport security--but you *can* bring an empty one! Bring an empty water in your carry on, then fill it up at a water fountain after you've gone through security to avoid having to pay expensive airport prices.

Look for things to do close to home! There are often many very fun things to do that you may not know about within a day's drive of your front door. This will not only help you save money but it will stimulate your local economy and your state's tourism!

An easy way to do this is to make a tag out of masking tape, and write your name and phone number on it. Or, you can use a Sharpie.

Hotel stationery is a great souvenir, and hotels do not charge you for taking it. The hotels realize that their stationery is a form of advertisement for them, so if you take it and use it, you are doing them a favor. Most higher-end hotels have beautiful stationery, so snap it up! They don't mind.

If you are traveling by plane with your children, get a portable DVD player. They are relatively inexpensive, and they keep your kids entertained for hours at a time. Don't worry about getting an expensive model; children do not really care about screen size or extra features. Even if you only use it one time, you will definitely find that it was a valuable purchase.
