Machu Picchu, which may also be referred to as the Lost City of the Incas, is found in Peru. It was created many years ago as estate of Incan emperor Pachacuti. Its origins go back to the 15th century, more specifically around the time of 1450. It had been abandoned around the 1500s and then discovered again 1911. Ever since, it has served as a major tourist attraction.

This area has undergone a lot of restoration. Located to the east side of the Andes mountains, the area is settled amongst a tropical forest. There are numerous stone cut structures and walls that have become signature to this landmark. Visiting the site today requires hiking by foot, which can take two or four days. Travelers might also reach the area by train, which takes only a few hours.

There are three key structures that make up the Machu Picchu sacred district: Temple of Sun, Intiwatana, and Temple of Three Windows. There are certain rules for visitors of this landmark. Many opt to travel here via a guided tour for its convenience. Tours permit people to see important local landmarks and also provide them with interesting facts about the areas they visit.

The Galapagos Islands are also a popular attraction for traveling people. This is the name used to refer to an archipelago of volcanic islands. These are located on either side of the Equator in the Pacific Ocean in Ecuador. The Islands and surrounding water make up an Ecuadorian national park, province and biological marine reserve.

People go to this place for many different reasons. Most are drawn to the endemic species, which Charles Darwin studied. In fact, Darwin collected and observed a lot while on his voyage of the Beagle and his finders are what helped him come up with the Darwin Theory of evolution.
